In the vein of Fulton Sheen, Bishop Barron has managed to reintroduce Christianity to a very broad audience in America and around the world. His passion and verve for sharing the gospel with depth is refreshing. He manages to bring together the seemingly mundane and the truly profound with beauty and in what he would describe as “panache.” He seems willing to speak with anyone. We need more like him. I pray for him and for WOF. While I believe in and support his mission, he is at times very brittle, publicly dismissing any and all criticism as “attacks.” I think that hurts his ministry. He does also sometimes make broad claims without sharing evidence or that are very much colored by the fact he is an American Catholic raised in Chicago. He can seem overconfident and lacking introspection but I believe he is a good man and someone honestly trying to live the faith he proclaims. He is a Catholic Bishop, so one can’t be surprised at his point of view at times or at his inclination to side with the institution even when they are clearly wrong. Can’t really blame him for being human though. I will continue to pray for him. The road he has chosen is a hard one and the world needs people like him willing to try.

I used to absolutely love Bishop Barron. He shaped so much of my Catholic faith and helped me learn so much. He has changed so much in the last few years, and currently supports organizations that encourage human rights abuses, something contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Very disappointed in him.
