I listen to a lot of podcasts, but The Homegrown Podcast is definitely one of my favorites. I think I stumbled upon it when I started a garden and thought homegrown sounded like a gardening podcast lol. Little did I know this would start a whole food journey for me that I’ve now been on for about two years. I started my sourdough starter in 2022 and use Liz’s bread recipe and sourdough guide every time I make bread! I have learned so much through Liz and Joey, as well as all the interviews. It’s been so helpful to follow new people, deepen my own research and understanding of everything from food, health, homesteading, parenting, faith, ect. Thank you so much for creating content for us to learn through. This podcast is truly changing my husband and I’s life/ health, and the health of our future children! Highly recommend!

This podcast has actually changed my life! As a parent I am so grateful for all the resources you provide, the topics you cover, and all the guests you interview. I’ve learned so much and discovered so many more topics I want to research because of these episodes. Thank you so much for never shying away from what you feel called to talk about.

It’s the overall tone for me. I feel like I’m being lectured and, even though I wholeheartedly agree with everything they speak on, I feel a strong aversion to being spoken to like I’m some idiot on the other side of the podcast. I don’t see how an aggressive undertone could possibly open someone’s eyes to a healthier way of living. Every episode I’ve tried to get through is preachy and they sound frustrated.
The marital dynamic that shines through doesn’t help, either. Speak to your audience like you’re their trusted friend, not a disappointed parent. Otherwise, they give good advice, hence 3 starts.

I love listening to Liz and Joey. They deep dive into great topics and have helpful family tips.

Was listening to the episode with Shawna Holman - and couldn’t get through it due to the host’s detached, disconnected and seemingly uninterested responses. Shawna would give great answers and the host would say “mm yeah” and go right to the next question.

I really want to love this podcast and am often very interested in a lot of what they talk about. I find the female host to be unimaginably smug. There have been times I’m listening to an episode where the topic is something new for me that I don’t know anything about, and Liz will make comments about how she just doesn’t understand how people could think this way or that way. The baby sleep episode was the last one I listened to, I just found it so hard to connect as a listener. It felt very much like patronizing rather than helpful.
