There is so much good content in this podcast. In particular the Restore Conference speakers! I could have avoided or better navigated so many troubles in life if I knew those things earlier. The subject is church abuse but I find myself processing so many levels of abuse and wrong I have experienced in my life (family, work, church, and more). I feel validated and empowered and it is surprisingly healing. I am growing more from listening here than I have in any form of therapy I have tried. The non-conference podcasts are also interesting, but the conference ones were a highlight for me. Thank you so much!

I have been listening a lot lately. I first heard about Julie Roys because of IHOP. I left IHOP years ago really hurt and confused. I’m so thankful for Julie’s work AND I’m so thankful for how it’s presented. Many podcaster are looking for “juicy tidbits” and it feels like gossip. Julie is fair and honest in her questions, she is not salacious, and I am so grateful for her voice right now. There is a good shift happening in the church…and a shift can mean exposure. And the goal of exposure is repentance and change. This podcast is helping with that. Keep it up!

First time listener and was recommended your podcast on Spotify today. I listened to the episode titled “The Body of Christ Keeps the Score” with the guest Kayleigh Clark, discussing the impacts of communal suffering and trauma. This was so thoughtful and thought provokingly beautiful. I am a huge fan of the book the title references, “The Body Keeps the Score”, and cannot seem to stop engaging in trauma informed content related to the American church, as it caused a lot of trauma in my own life and story. I am so encouraged by this conversation and there was one example and quote about how Jesus interacted with hurting people out of a beautiful, humble posture of compassionate curiosity. And how that posture is so beautiful and a model for people and pastors to lead being trauma informed and compassionately curious. Very thankful to have stumbled across this today and looking forward to listening more.

I so appreciate the hard work the Roy’s report team does investigating and interviewing persons related to abuse in the church. We as Christians have been told to not talk about things because it shames the name of Christ. Jesus warned us that there would be wolves so we would deal with them. Wolves can only be dealt with to protect Christ’s Holy name by holding them accountable to prevent further abuse. This podcast gives that opportunity to be wise, to be heard, to bring healing.

This podcast seems designed more to sell books and conference registrations than get at the truth. Compared with Rise and Fall of Mars Hill, which interviews more than one person and takes pains to uncover the truth, this podcast seems only interested in presenting one side of a story. Church leader abuse is very real; PLEASE do victims justice and make a thorough report. This is presented as journalism but falls far short. Makes it hard to know what really happened in Naperville.
