Pete Carroll operates with a perspective that is disconnected from narratives. Everybody attempts to characterize him, and he continually succeeds because he operates on principles not definitions. His approach and refusal to acknowledge opinions and to focus 100% of the time on the small details that foster continuous improvement rather than results - and to demand the same from everyone around him - is why he will always succeed as a leader. Pete, you’ll never read this but I’ve always appreciated your approach! You rule dude.

After every loss it’s “we were surprised by X” or “that was uncharacteristic”. After a certain point it’s your job to not be surprised and maybe surprise the other team. And maybe it’s exactly who the team is rather than uncharacteristic.
Seattle media is too soft on Pete. The guy will blow a game and they either don’t know enough about football to ask “why didn’t we attack the short and intermediate passing game when they are trying to take away the deep shot?” Or they’re afraid to upset the local legend.
