I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts, but The Messy Parts stands out in the most beautiful way. Hosted by the brilliant Maryam Banikarim, this show is an open invitation to step out of the highlight reel and into the real stories that shape who we become. Each episode is like sitting across from a friend who isn’t afraid to talk about the stuff we often keep hidden—career pivots, breakdowns before breakthroughs, starting over, and saying yes to something even when it’s scary.

As someone who deeply values vulnerability and connection, I found myself nodding, crying, and feeling seen episode after episode. The conversations are unfiltered yet elegant, honest yet hopeful—and they remind you that you’re not alone in the chaos of figuring things out. It’s the kind of podcast that helps you feel more human, more courageous, and more empowered to embrace your own messy parts.

Whether you’re at a crossroads in your career, navigating a personal transition, or just looking for proof that success doesn’t have to be linear, this is the podcast for you. Welcome to the Messy Party—trust me, you’ll want to stay awhile.

Every episode feels like a gentle reminder that the messy parts of life are where the magic really is.

I found this to be a really enlightening series. Punchy and powerful, it was exactly what I needed to hear as a 20-something-year old figuring out my career! Banikarim asks all the right questions and leads equally incredible guests through their personal stories— all stories that I pulled great lessons from!

We’re always hearing about the successes of successful people and never the personal parts or the journey leading up to it. With The Messy Parts, I’ve been able to get a more up-close view of successful people’s mindsets, career pivots, and personal histories. Maryam gets to know these guests through her thoughtful interview questions, and as a listener, I feel like I’m actually in the room with her, getting to know everyone.

I loved the episode with Debra Martin Chase about how her “safe” path as a lawyer wasn’t fulfilling, and that she had to take a risk and start over mid-career. So many good episodes, and I can’t wait to listen to more!
