Billy Corgan’s podcast episode featuring Dean and Robert DeLeo is a fascinating listen, offering a raw glimpse into the music world through Corgan’s incisive lens. His chemistry with the DeLeos sparks engaging banter and insider stories that fans of ‘90s alt-rock will eat up. However, the episode misses the mark when it comes to Stone Temple Pilots’ legacy. Scott Weiland was STP—not just a frontman, but the heart and soul of the band. The DeLeos, talented as they are, were part of his orbit, not the other way around. It’s disrespectful to Weiland’s memory to suggest that he wasn’t the band, and frankly, without Scott’s singular voice and presence, the surviving members shouldn’t be touring under the STP name. Corgan’s podcast is a great platform, but this take on STP’s identity feels like a misstep. Respect Scott’s legacy and let STP rest with him

I’m 42 and I owe so much to the music of The Smashing Pumpkins. I could write an essay about that but the main point would be that as a Pumpkins fan, I listened to all his Stern, Rogan, and Maher interviews and all were captivating. Anyone who knows anything about Billy would know he had a very difficult childhood, had some very difficult opinions in the 90’s that created a not so great reputation for him, but he created some of the best, most influential music of that decade. So I was really excited that Billy went for it and started this Podcast because not only do we get to hear some great interviews and some “inside baseball” of how the music was made, we get to hear Billy in a whole new light. He’s not the person of the ‘90’s and I especially enjoyed the interviews with Tom Morello and the DeLeo Brothers. I would recommend this podcast to anyone who is a rock’n’roll fan.

Lifelong fan of Billy‘s work, but yeah, he really needs to work on making the episodes more about the guest and stop interrupting. He brings a great perspective from being in the industry so long so he has really great questions that can open up a guest into an amazing conversation, but the point of the interview is to let the guest shine, so I think he would be better served just asking that question and then letting the guest take it from there. I think something as simple as really utilizing a pen and paper to jot down any side bars or follow ups he might have while the guest is speaking would really help let the guest talk.
By his own admission. He’s a serial interrupter so perhaps with a bit of time and feedback he’ll get there. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I’m enjoying the podcast and the dynamics. All the people saying Billy interrupts are blowing it out of proportion. These are conversations.
My only gripe is the audio could use some compression. Billy and the guests talk at different volumes and there’s constant spikes that make me have to turn my volume up and down in the car.
Aside from that, the guests are interesting and Billy is a great host.

This show would be good if Billy didn’t constantly talk about how great he thinks he is. It would have been nice to hear from the STP brothers, but all Billy did was have them reiterate how cool Billy Corgan is. Ridiculous!
