I started listening to this podcast in the first few weeks and have loved listening to its beautiful and rapid evolution. Making the leap from 1000s of pages in Americas most well loved cookbook to a microphone is no small feat. I love their clearly expert, but casual and gentle approach to food. This podcast feels like I’m part of the conversation, it’s wildly relaxing and such a welcoming refuge from the heaviness of so much media these days. I finish every episode thinking about trying something new in my kitchen that week. Thank you Joy for the weekly hug.

I love The Joy of Cooking podcast! I didn’t know what to expect at first - I was a little nervous it was going to be very Staid and Proper (think Delicious Dish from SNL) just because Joy has been around forever and I wasn’t sure who was in charge. I need not have worried! The hosts are fun, energetic, passionate and down-to-earth, and the guests have all been fascinating (even on topics that, at first, I don’t know if I’ll have much interest in). The format is awesome, and I love that they do a Joy Scouts recipe each week to make at home. The caller questions are always interesting, too. If you are looking for an approachable, informative, and entertaining show about home cooking - this is for you!

I really enjoy the podcast and while I don’t always find the opinions and perspectives resonant with my own, I never doubt that they are grounded in both knowledge and good will. Most reviews here are positive, but those that are not primarily criticize the delivery. I am 60 (i.e., old) and I humbly suggest that those who have trouble with vocal fry and uptalk (or, with my own nit-pick, the repurposing of the word ‘situation’) either get used to it, or to listen instead to the either the Fanny Farmer or Betty Crocker podcasts. I’m old, the hosts are not. They talk the way they talk, and if you can bear to stick around you may find that they say interesting and entertaining things, and that you have learned something.
