i finished listening to the first season this week and immediately started it over again. this podcast is smartly written, well paced, believably acted, and well produced. the narrator is personable and human, the mystery is organically introduced, and the horror builds subtly but surely. i enjoy horror audio dramas but am infrequently scared by them; however, i found myself feeling the creep of fear in full daylight as i listened to the latter half of season one. i can’t wait to see how season 2 continues to develop the mystery!!! also: the way the narrator smoothly ties in the patreon extras in the public episodes made me go over and join immediately.

Excellent writing - such an effective way to frame the protagonist’s reason for creating the pod.
The story unfolds in such a way that it adds so much to the creep factor. What begins with academic research, a more unsettling plot slowly develops. Each revelation makes you want to hear the one after that.
There’s a Blair Witch vibe happening as well and I am here for it.
Excited to learn what’s next.

I really enjoyed the first season of this show. It pretty much instantly reminded me a bit of the black tapes (in a good way). Toward the end, I got another black tapes vibe (in a bad way) but the narrator promised more to come in conclusion to season 1. The story is great, the writing is great, the production value is fine, it’s nothing fancy, but it doesn’t need to be, given the premise of the show. The voice acting is slightly above average in my opinion, not by much, but it’s not bad. There are a couple things that slightly irritated me personally (though, since their personal, they have no bearing on my 4 star rating): the narrator pronounces “ancient” like “angshent” and “Massachusetts” like there is no letter “T” in the name of the state. Aside from that, I do feel like the narrator, as well as most of the voice actors, have an unnaturally slow cadence, and even kind of subdued. It doesn’t always come off as realistic, at least not as if compared to someone who would really be experiencing these situations. It’s a nitpick on my part, it doesn’t distract from the show for me, but it is a critique. Overall, highly enjoyable show and i really hope the story continues soon! Definitely worth listening to!

Great podcast. It has a lot of historical background intertwined with mythological creatures and folklore so it really does a great job in almost convincing the listener this is a real story. I’ll definitely be coming back for season 2.
