The Edge of Sleep kicks off with one of the most gripping premises I’ve heard in audio fiction: a night watchman finishes his shift only to discover that anyone who fell asleep the night before has mysteriously died. The storytelling is fast-paced, eerie, and backed by high production quality, with a standout performance from Markiplier (yes, that Markiplier) leading a solid voice cast. The sound design is immersive, and the atmosphere balances suspense, sci-fi, and horror in a way that keeps you hooked from episode to episode.

The pacing and writing are strong, though sometimes the dialogue veers a bit too much into exposition. Still, the mystery unfolding episode by episode keeps the tension high, and the stakes only grow more intense. It’s one of those binge-worthy listens that makes you keep saying, “Just one more episode…”

That said—here comes the disappointment—it’s been nearly two years since the first season wrapped, and fans are still waiting for Season 2. While there have been whispers of its development, the silence has been frustrating. For a story that ends on such a big cliffhanger, the long delay without much communication leaves a bit of a sour aftertaste. Here’s hoping it eventually wakes back up.

As someone with excessive hypersomnia, this mini series freaked me out a bit (there’s no way I would make it long). Loved the sound effects and multiple voice actors and, of course, the voice acting of Markiplier. If you read Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King and want to keep chasing that specific brand of sleep fear, this is a great podcast for you!

I just loved this podcast. It’s so well-produced! Between the vocal talents, editing, direction, sound design, etc., it was just an incredibly good time. I do hope you can get back to it for a season 2 (when all the variables fall into place for you), but wanted to thank you for all the great work you put into season 1!

Simply put, I loved this show. One of the most professionally-produced creepy fiction podcasts I’ve ever listened to!

I’ve read other stories involving the world suddenly losing the ability to sleep and such, but THIS is a very fresh take on the concept, and based on how it ends, I am HUNGRY to feast on more that this world has to offer!

3 years. 3 YEARS we’ve been waiting since you said the ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE. Not since you announced it but when season 2 was SUPPOSED TO COME OUT. I know scheduling can be difficult and I know mark has been very busy but 3 YEARS? AFTER THE ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE? That’s just ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, the show is perfect. Probably the best podcast in existence. But come on 3 years is just too much.
