As a listener from the US, I find it extremely helpful to get perspectives from the FT and their guests that are a half-step removed from what is happening here. I think every host and guest is well informed and considerate and does a good job trying to understand what is happening in the world, how that aligns or doesn’t align with generally accepted economic principles and ideas, and why people view the world in the way they do. I especially enjoyed the recent Krugman-Wolf exchanges.

Long time listener (from trade talks) first time reviewer. Your sharp analysis, ability to break down complex topics quickly while demonstrating their importance, and fantastic guests make the new show a clear winner.
I’ve never recommended a podcast to more people!

I am a new subscriber to FT. Discovered this podcast by on Appleplay while driving. The discussions are informative and educational. The guests speak with authority without being pretentious. The interviewer prepares with excellent questions. Five Stars aren’t enough.

I just discovered this podcast, and have been coming back to it again and again. It is providing me with a great continuing economics education.
The questions are to-the-point and clear. The episodes’ subjects are relevant to current events, and are treated with a steady objectivity - a welcome contrast to the overly dramatic tones of most podcasts.
The guests are the tops in their fields.
I particularly liked the January 20, 2025 interview with Doug Irwin on Trump and the history of tarrifs, with FT’s trade writer, Alan Beattie.

Just as the title suggests, this show has an obvious bias. The hosts are educated and informed but there’s a clear political bias to their discussion. If you’re looking for objective discussion on pertinent issues, don’t waste your time on this podcast.
