I can’t express enough how much I appreciate this program. Especially now as I find even greater value in the contributions of these artists. Back when I was a student at Albany U, I made friends with the co-owner Jack of Erl’s records (later Flipped Out Records). this was 1992, he gifted me a CD copy of “Bright Surroundings”. I listened to it for years as the only music release I owned by SCG. At the time, I was a big AMREP freak so I had other interests in music vying for attention.
Flash forward about 10 years, and a move to the a east Village in NYC and I was heavily into bands like Acid Mothers Temple, Trad Gras Och Stenar, Can, Terry Riley, John Fahey and my interest in SCG is reignited. I picked up “Wah” (a favorite) and a bunch of the “Carnival Folklore resurrection series” and catch Sir Richard Bishop live a few times (I remember the Tonic nyc 2006).
Ok, so now here we are twenty years later and these guys mean more to me than ever. I’m being pulled back in. It’s like entering a wormhole into a wondrous land that is everlasting! Will we ever see a SCG book?
Many thanks, send my regards!
