I never knew Rather had this series of interviews until I stumbled across a snippet of one on some social media platform. They are great! Rather asks some of the best questions. Questions you may think of as “That took some balls to ask” but he does it in such a non-threatening way. I always end up with a better perspective of the person after listening to the interview.
The only downside - Rather’s voice, while distinct and recognizable, doesn’t always come across clearly. It’s like his volume needs to come up. Maybe it’s just the softness and deepness of his voice compared to whoever he’s interviewing. Don’t know but I find him hard to understand at times during a conversation with others.

Great idea. Unfortunately, the audio is up and down. You get the biggest interviewer in America talking to the most iconic names in music and you don’t know how to level the audio volumes? The music is one level, the voiceover is another … and Dan’s interview is too quiet. Hire podcasting professionals.

First and foremost, I really like the interviews. I think Dan does a great job interviewing some of these amazing artists. My issue is the “podcast”. These were sit down interviews for cable TV that are now aired in a podcast format. Some of the interviews are YEARS old (Mellencamp is from 2011, Simmons is from 2013)…..so it’s deceptive! They weren’t recorded in January of this year, they are repeats from decades ago. At least advertise honestly.

Of course, we know Dan, rather as it, serious reporter and journalist, but who knew he had such an affinity for music? Taking his stellar talents for research and reporting and interviewing, and applying them to many of my and your favorite musicians is just fun, interesting, and deeply informational for those of us who enjoy that. I the talent of musicians in genres that are not my thing. I appreciate the artist themselves and all that I know it’s taken for them to get where they are and stay where they are. But for me, seeing Dan Rather, interviewed Gene Simmons, Robert Plant, Sammy Hagar, KANSAS, and some of the great great hard rock icons is fantastic. So, Dan, my compliments. And my two cents… Please continue interviewing people in that style; say, someone from RUSH, Metallica (a ‘Diamond’ certified album seller and huge past and present band), AC/DC, someone from Alter Bridge, or Creed, a major “get” would be David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. U2, Bon Jovi, Tom Scholz, Guns n’ Roses’ Slash, Axl Rose, Duff McKagen, (Boston), Wolfgang Van Halen, and because they literally JUST wrapped up their colorful, storied and legendary 50-year career in 2024, the four members of KISS all seated with you together.
Terrific show, Dan Rather.
