Riveting story of corruption in the New Bedford Massachusetts PD. Eye opening expose of the misuse of confidential informants which probably reflects similar corruption in many other police departments.

Listen, the corruption in my hometown is nothing short of disastrous. Whether it’s the shooting of Malcolm Gracia, school teachers at Vocational Tech High School dating kids, city councilors being fired from their day jobs for groping women, the endless release of violent criminals by the judges, or the Mitchell administration constantly being deaf to us as residents, it’s all a much-needed light shining on the tragic state of our city. It is being sold to the highest bidder, to people not from here, with the intention of pushing the community out.
The train is opening and with that will come more money and the double-edged sword of rising costs, more homelessness already plaguing public health, and the list goes on. I hope this series continues and finally removes the rug. I love my city and my neighbors and community are good people, but bad leadership begets poor outcomes and our beautiful, prideful city needs an awakening. We can’t ignore it anymore. We see these cute stories in the local paper, but no lasting progress for anyone from here except a select few. It’s mostly known as the Secret City but those same secrets are plaguing us and have been for decades. We are a strong people, a good people, and wholesome at our core. We work hard and take care of each other because our leaders exploit us and use band-aids to placate us. It’s insane our local papers don’t cover these stories. New Bedford Guide shared it and all of a sudden the post was removed because they are compromised. Another report talks about them shredding files from Internal Affairs, it was a legal procedure based on current law, but leaves room for easy cover-ups. Something needs to change fast. My city deserves better.

Great podcast, but sooooo many commercials! I think there are more minutes of commercials than content. At one point I was counting sentences. Like three sentences, commercial. 4 sentences, another commercial. Ridiculous.
