I love listening to this podcast I’ve learned so much about the MBTA. However this is an ad rapped up in an informative podcast. I understand the dedication and leadership in the MBTA trying to correct course from the years of neglect but very little on the longer term goals of making the mbta competitive against the car (competitive meaning effective transportation not just to Park Street). I’m not saying it’s not happening but those questions get sidelined in the convo. After 5 podcasts were the main substance of conversation is the budgetary restraints and areas in desperate need of repairs it starts to sound like the bad news headlines said with a smile. Saying we know it’s bad and are trying is a great ad to humanize the workers fighting but is deceptively optimistic with no actual solutions to the long-term future of public transportation.
Repairs as well as improvements, build confidence and with no money that’s hard but we’re trying is all I really get from the podcast. Before we can get connectivity, we need safety I get that and understand that’s the short term focus but when even that comes with problems the future feels grim. This podcast makes me want the MBTA to succeed but does not tell me how they plan to over come anything.
