Amazingly thorough interview with songwriter and gambler Chip Taylor (born James Wesley Voight) referencing his huge catalogue of songs including #1 hits Wild Thing and Angel of the Morning, and his exceptional brothers (actor Jon Voight and geologist Barry Voight who predicted Mount St Helens eruption.). I came upon this podcast accidentally while searching for a different songwriter and was blown away by the professionalism and thoroughness of hosts Scott Bomar and Paul Duncan. They took the time to learn ever relevant aspect of Chip Taylor’s amazing career and used that to bring the listener on an intimate journey through his songs, interlaced with Chip’s recollections and motivations. I highly recommend the Song Craft: Spotlight on Songwriters podcast and look forward to hearing all of their 200 episodes. Matt Mannino

I absolutely love these interviews. It helps me in my own songwriting, and fuels my fire. There’s no place better to not only get the tactical tips regarding songwriting but also the story behind the songs as well. I have been introduced to so many new songwriters and music that wouldn’t have landed in my orbit otherwise. Thanks so much!!

Just stumbled across this and gave it a try. I started at Episode 46 because that’s what popped up. I have listened through episode 52 so far. Even when I think it might be boring, like Tom Russell (cowboy music), I’m totally captivated and now want to go on-line and find some of his music to listen too!! Great job, guys! Oh, and I finally took the time to find my way to episode #1, so I’ll go back to the beginning now.
3/20/2022 Still loving this and listening in the order it was released. I don’t want to binge and catch up, but eventually I will catch up. I just finished Episode 154. In December of last year I finally became a Patreon supporter of the show. Scott and Paul seem like close friends now!

As a fan of song writers this show is a welcome companion on my daily walks. Love to hear the stories from the story tellers themselves and then go and listen or re-listen to the songs!! This is a great listen !
