This is such a unique podcast in terms of content and format. Sahaj does an incredible job again of centering community voices through the these rarely talked about topics and really poignant audio notes. By then bringing her expertise and authenticity and combining it with the expertise of others in the field, it is creating such a unique conversation and place for healing in such a communal way. Sahaj’s response is also so balanced - acknowledging a multitude of experiences, offering perspectives that I otherwise would not have been open to, and more. So excited for the rest of the series to come out!

I am so grateful there is finally a podcast out there that speaks to me! Most podcasts for women my age feature white women, there's not a lot of women of color let alone child of immigrants from India just like myself. I feel so alone and isolated in my life experiences and like I'm figuring out the blueprint and writing it at the same time for my life with no one to relate to. Now I feel like someone has summarized my life experiences and is sharing it in a weekly episode. I am so grateful for this show and for the brown girl therapy account. It's the first time I felt like someone is teaching me how to live and navigate these unique experiences that most people don't have. Thank you for giving me this gift.

As a white immigrant in the U.S., I didn’t expect So We Have Been Told to speak so directly to my experience—but it does in many ways. The podcast explores identity, belonging, and the quiet complexities of living between cultures with so much thought and honesty. I often feel like I shift between versions of myself, depending on the space I’m in and sometimes even who I am with. And there’s a certain ache in not speaking my native language every day—like a part of me is going / gone quiet somehow. Listening to this podcast, I feel understood in ways I hadn’t expected. I’m grateful for that—and I’m also glad this space exists for so many others to feel seen and held in their own stories, too.

I have really enjoyed this podcast which covers topics that I’ve not heard covered before, as a child of immigrants, and it is done in a beautiful way! Highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to deepen their knowledge in navigating biculturalism and the common experiences of children of immigrants, or immigrants themselves.
