This is a superlatively researched podcast. Many episodes offer insights into the social history of the interwar period—including topics such as single women, golf, the development of forensic science, and the rise of the crossword—that intersect with classical detective fiction. Topics are treated briefly, yet richly. The production is also high calibre. All around, a truly great show.

Such a treat! Episodes are well-written and conceived . Have been listening to them in chronological order and the earliest ones include information on famous historical crimes (Dr.Crippen, etc.) and shows their influence on the mystery novels we love.
But don’t think this is a dry or tedious podcast—it’s very engaging and I find listening to them a good way to unwind.
Episodes are relatively brief (@ 1/2hour) but I wish they were longer.
May this podcast live long and thrive!

She had me at “starring Kenneth Branagh’s awful mustache as Hercule Poirot” … No, she had me way before that! With the first episode of Shedunnit, in fact, and every one after that! Caroline Crampton has a writer’s ability to spot common themes and interesting details and a journalist’s talent for choosing excellent topics and interviewing guests. Best of all, she is skilled in plumbing the depths of stories we love and think we already know to reveal something new and unexpected in each episode. If you love Golden Age mysteries, this is the best podcast for you. If you are not a Golden Age fan, take a listen to Shedunnit, and you will be!
