Why "everybody"?
Well, I assume everyone reading this:
1. Has some favorite movies/ tv shows...
2. Likes to listen to music...
3. Was born sometime after the Jazz Singer came out (in 1927).
If anyone meets these 3 criteria, they should treat themselves to the deep and colorful insights on the often unseen world of film scoring. (Musicians and music makers will not be able to get ENOUGH of this podcast). This podcast came forth after the creators of "Score, the Documentary" decided to venture even further into its subject and grace us with alluring interviews with film composers and some of the highest profile musicians.
Since it's early beginning, this podcast has consistently sat its listeners at the feet of some of Hollywood's greatest musical icons. Over an hour in length, these giants of film scoring offer stories about their careers and truly compelling experiences which are often not heard anywhere else on the internet. They cover the industry, the challenges and excitement of working on film and tv, their time spent with the directors, and their unique contributions to the wonderful art of film scoring. They're thorough without being tedious. They're passionate without becoming overwhelmingly geeky or too nerdy for your average person.
Additionally, everything is curated at such a great pace. For example, sprinkled in the podcast are a few mini-segments, keeping it light and fresh, and keeping you far from listening fatigue. My favorite has to be from music psychologist Siu-Lan Tan. As a musician myself, I love hearing her explain and comb through some fine details of a different film score segment. Fellow composers will truly enjoy these gems from Siu.
And everyone will surely look forward to "Name! That! Score!" the unique game that will test everyone's film score trivia skills by challenging you to identify an audio segment played backwards. It's addictive! Honestly somebody should make a whole tv show based on that concept. But you have that and more, here in Score: the Podcast.

I stumbled into this podcast, and it has quickly become my favorite!! I am a fan of movie scores, and each episode has intrigued me, even when I am not at all familiar with the episode guest. Every guest has a unique story, background and perspective, and the show hosts bring it all to the air. I cherry picked episodes at first—now I am going back and catching up on all seasons, not skipping a single one!!
Keep up the great show!!

I love hearing all of the discussion and insight about this amazing music! It’s fun to hear the composers’ stories and background. I’m not a fan of the explicit stuff, but I’m glad the episodes are labeled to give warning. I love the games at the end of each episode! So fun!

I am a huge fan of the show for sure. The guests are amazing. I’ve mostly enjoyed the hosts when they dive deep into the heads, processes and passions that help us understand the people behind the music, their personal and professional lives, inspirations, gear, and studio life. However, since we are now paying for this podcast, there seems to be less and less each month in regards to the rich content that they once offered, both in frequency and length. Also, they may have pioneered this topic very well, including the awesome documentary, but now there are many great podcast out there discussing this very topic with a variety of composers from all genres and disciplines, including many successful indie composers. Not a fan of paying for less. I hope they go back to more substance that paved the way for this format. I don’t write many reviews, but because I loved this show so much, I feel it was necessary before canceling my subscription or at least pausing to make room for some of the other great podcasts out there.

I used to really enjoy this podcast. But they’ve completely abandoned it in favor of the paid version “More Score.” It feels weird to have something called More Score when the actual Score podcast doesn’t exist anymore. I hope they go back to producing episodes of Score The Podcast and turn More Score back to the thing it was intended to be - bonus material and additional interviews to supplement the free podcast.
