About 2 years ago, I came across James’ YouTube and podcast while searching for answers to the possibility of early exit from my stressful career.

James’ contents are full of thoughtful insights and practical informations. He communicates with clarity and sincerity.

I found answers I needed not only on the financial but also on the psychological aspects of getting ready for retirement after watching and listening to his countless episodes. After gaining confidence, I started working with a financial advisor and took steps to make retirement at 59 a reality.

James breaks down the various strategies around retirement in a way that is easy to understand. The audio podcast will work for most episodes but for topics with visual aids the YouTube version is recommended.

James isn’t interested in easy answers based exclusively in monetary terms. Instead he aims to position the listener to live the life they want to live—both today and in the future. The most valuable perspective I’ve yet to find on money’s limited but essential role in planning the remainder of my days.

I’ve loved James’ podcast for a long time. He is wicked smart, a very clear communicator, and loves helping people. I’m not thrilled with these new co-hosted episodes though. Ari might have good intentions, but honestly he belittles the clients he’s talking about and consistently talks down to current listeners. What’s worse is that he can’t stay on topic and tends to go off on tangents so much, and in such a clumsy way, that James often has to step in and clear things up. In short, James is amazing and I listen when it’s just him. But after listening to a bunch with Ari and finding them so frustrating, I’m going to skip those in the future.
