This show is a deeply intimate portrait of a mother-daughter relationship through an unexpected struggle with cancer. I loved Theresa’s audio diaries. And Golda’s excellent reporting and quest to understand her mom’s illness helped me learn so much about ovarian cancer - something more women need to know about. Beautiful, subtle sound design and excellent production. A must listen.

I listened to every available episode of this podcast in one sitting. I’m educated on ovarian cancer. My mother battled it for six years and eventually passed when I was in my early 20s. Before she died, she discovered the BRCA2 mutation that I’ve also found I carry.

But even so, I learned so much about the disease and treatment while listening. The science and the story are presented so clearly.

I also felt connected to the lives of the host and her mother. At the time, I was young and took the approach to look away instead of witnessing my mother’s journey. This podcast helped piece back and rebuild some of those memories that I’ve been too afraid to look at.

Episode 2 was particularly insightful. The interview with the Gynecological Oncologist (GynOnc) was stellar. She was extremely articulate, clear about the complexities of the disease, and at the same time able to speak in non-scientific terms. This explanation of the disease is with every woman should know.!

This pod is incredible. The narrator explains complex aspects to cancer and it’s treatment directly while taking me on an emotional journey that is real and stretches beyond the stereotype to bring me into the story.
