Dr. Phil has an amazing way of explaining complex theories and behaviors without condescension. We all know what happened in these crimes but we never know why. He has a talent and making things be understandable in complex situations and teaches how to be aware of behaviors that could be precursors to bigger trauma or tragedy.

I found this podcast through a search for more coverage of the Chris Watts family annihilator case. Initially I was skeptical because so many podcasts rushed to cover this case while it was unfolding and had incorrect “facts” and information based off what was available at the time. Dr. Phil covered every. last. detail. And spared no sympathy for any of the parties involved (i.e. Kessinger) and he did a fantastic job covering this case in its entirety. So happy I found this case and hope by the time I listen to all the other cases he’s covered he’s back to updating this post cast.

As a true crime lover and huge Dr Phil fan, I really enjoyed this podcast. Not only did he tell the story, but he broke down the psychological thinking and characteristics of the murderers. I hope he continues this podcast.. I’ll be waiting!

I had to stop listening to leave this review. This murder case is striking enough without the overly dramatic narrating by Dr Phil. It isn’t necessary and it makes it difficult to listen to. I like podcasts that go around all the tiny details that aren’t important and go straight to the facts. The over explanation of the scene of the crime about how the cops felt and how horrific it was and how the murderer stared at all the homes in the neighborhood as we walked through it…It’s painful to listen to.
