Just finished season three and this podcast is one of a kind. The story, the voices, the sound effects, and the music are just top tier. I laughed, I choked up, and I got that sense of emptiness when it was over that I only really get with media that’s affected me personally. Thank you to the Midst team and Critical Role for bringing me this experience. I will never forget it!

Midst takes some getting used to, with the triple-narrators, but once one gets into the groove with it the charm, wit and gripping plot will grab you. There’s nothing else like it—an ol’ time sci-fi radio show of Weird Tales from the 1930s transformed for the 21st century. Great music is an added plus!

I’ve never been so enraptured by a show, specifically an audio drama in such a way before. The back and forth of the 3 narrators blends together seamlessly, and I love how each episode has a Chekov’s gun that you didn’t even realize was set up to fire back at you later on. This is one of the best hidden gems I’ve ever stumbled across on, and more people need to know about it.

Midst is a story that is expertly written and dynamically told. It breathes life back in to the genre of cowboy western scifi thriller. While it may be a bit difficult to adjust to having three narrators, it is well worth it as the narrators create a flow that is easily understandable, humorous and fun. If you’re starting this podcast, you’re in for a treat!

The 1st season of Midst was revelatory - deeply creative, meaningful, mesmerizing. Characters you felt passionately attached to. This new story is mostly plotless world-building. Hints of dramatic tension come & go without building to anything. Once the characters started playing their own RPG, I tuned out in frustration. What a heartbreak.
