JuanGa is a legend but his full story is not always known or appreciated. Maria did an incredible job telling unknown pieces of his story while intertwining it with her own journey. For those of us that grew up on the border, the duality of language and culture is a part of how we live and we manage both of those worlds. Maria gives light, again, to the questions we have as products of being bi-cultural, bilingual, and sometimes bi-national! This is an incredible listen and I’m ready to experience it again, but this time in Spanish!

I grew up listening to Juan Gabriel and have such fond memories associated with his music. But listening to the stories of Juan’s journey and how he became El Divo - El Mero Mero - those songs have more meaning for me. I ran through every emotion from happiness to rage and gained an understanding of my grandmother’s ire at her home country. Great work!!
