I am a middle age Democrat woman who didn’t realize I would need to actually repeat history to fight for my rights and the rights of my black, brown, gay, Hispanic, you name it friends - anyone that wasn’t white and a member of a conservative southern Protestant religion - in my actual lifetime. Suzanne came up in my doom scrolling and I immediately fell in love. She looked like the MAGA/MAHA Christian Nationalist private school moms (often pro sport wife) who were flooding the CLT social media scene, but she was speaking my language- anti MAGA, pro science. I’ve always considered myself a centrist and have voted for a Bush in a Presidential election and will vote for Edwin Peacock in CLT’s CIty Council election this cycle. But this cult like MAGA following of Trump is scary and this MAHA reverence of RFK Jr is literally insane. It all looks cultish or racists or bigotry- and none of that is a good look for America or the GOP. And trust me - if you are 100% convinced you are right then you are living in an echo chamber and you need to get out in the real world and especially outside of the US to see and hear what people really think of the USA right now and our dear leader.
