This is my favorite podcast because: they cover my favorite format in an open minded and analytical way; they sprinkle jokes through the intro, editing, and natural conversation; and it’s free of ads and Patreon plugging.

Just adore this podcast- it engages with Magic in a relevant way while also creating space for unique conversations, voices, and creative ideas. I was getting tired of keeping up with Magic podcasts that were hyper specific on new releases and the way Lucky Paper Radio engages with this stuff is a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend this for any Magic player— not just cube folks.

This show is as genuine as it gets. I admire the hosts so much for the energy they pour into this show without asking for anything in return. Thank you for helping restore my love of 1v1 Magic and showing me my new favorite way to play the game!

This show has not only given me that final push I needed to design my first cube, it also helped me clean my house. Focusing on the cards that brought me joy let me get rid of so many that weren’t. And I don’t miss them. Thank you to the good folks at Lucky Paper Radio.

I stopped listening to Lucky Paper Radio something like a year ago because the hosts had grown increasingly negative about Magic. Not just aspects of Magic, but making comments about how Magic was no longer a game they loved. I just took a listen to the 2025 State of the Game episode (the most recent episode as of this review) to consider diving back in, as there was a time when I quite enjoyed the ‘cast. Alas, it’s another hour of finding everything negative about the game. If the podcast were about Standard or Modern or Commander or any format except cube - which we each design ourselves, according to our aesthetics and design goals - maybe they’d have a reason to keep doing this. But why am I going to listen to a couple of guys who don’t enjoy Magic talking about a prison of their own making?
