Two episodes in, I’ve learned that I need to be careful about when I listen to this podcast, because it will make me cry at least once per episode. So lovely to hear these anecdotes directly from Sondheim’s friends and colleagues! And on a more poignant subject, I’m grateful that the creators got audio from these musical theater giants, before we lose them all.

This podcast is filled with interesting anecdotes. It includes strange and off putting reenactments that would have been better left out completely. It’s definitely worth a listen to any Sondheim die hard’s. However, it’s lacking any real insights. Basically two insights so far - Sondheim enjoyed camp and gossip and he was more down-to-earth than his fans would have assumed.
One major plus is the effort put into sharing music never released before. Just for that it is worth a listen.

I never listen to podcasts but I made an exception for this. A beautiful valentine to a genius who was also a mensch. The twain do not often meet.

This is my new favorite podcast. So happy to see a proper tribute to a monumental talent. A true gift to those who love Steve’s work.
