Layout - Podcast Rankings and reviews

If you’re in the design field in any way, you've really got to listen to Layout. It’s the ATP of design. Rafa and Kevin talk through all news, but the real meat of it are the deep-dives on things that interest them, and are relevant to our craft. When it pops up in Overcast, it goes straight to the top of my queue. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Whether you’re well established as someone who can translate creative energy into the impact you want to have on the world, or just getting started as a catalyst for change - this is a must-listen podcast for you! Kevin and Rafael do an incredible job leading conversations that cover a huge breadth of topics related to the ins and outs of building a thriving career and life you can be proud of as a designer - with leaders who’ve actually walked the path. Highly recommend listening and subscribing!

This podcast, by far, has my favoirte content out of any design podcast. I love how the hosts nerd out about aesthetics, implementations, and other relevant topics. It's defintely like ATP for design. The content is top notch and I wouldn't want to change anything.

I think the hosts' performances could be better. I find myself getting distracted by some of their verbal ticks. The hosts tend to stretch out words to avoid pauses (pauses are like white space, use them), ending statements with an upward turning question-like inflection, and breathy laughter in between explaining things. It all sounds overly friendly. On the most well known tech podcasts, hosts sound more direct, and even a bit confrontational. It's much easier to listen to hosts that are more direct.

These guys are friendly and charming with lots of tech nerdiness and playfulness. When they aren't doping knowledge bombs about design they discuss their lives and many random things in a way that makes you feel like you know them as a friend. Sometimes their tangents last too long but its a small price to pay for the total value of the show.
