One of my favorite things to do is go for walks in residential neighborhoods. D.C., New York, San Francisco—each has its own unique cluster of homes that embodies its culture. How to be Anything reminds me of walking through one of those neighborhoods and seeing so many different kinds of people living lives that I’d never even known were possible. I listened to the puppetry artist episode while taking a city bus, and it made me think about how it can take a lifetime to build the art we envision in our minds. The dark matter scientists episode reminded me that there are people out there pushing knowledge forward in ways that will change the globe. And the death doula episode showed me how rich life can be if we pause to notice it. I’ve really enjoyed this podcast and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

Great production and storytelling. The episode on the death doula really shaped my own thinking about life and the precious time we have here. I don’t know how Emily uncovers all of these interesting stories about people with such unique jobs, but I can’t wait for new episodes to drop!

Very engaging, interesting stories. It’s so fun to hear what people do for a living that’s outside of the more traditional or societal norms. Reminds me of listening to NPR. Great storytelling!
