Absolutely my favorite pop culture podcast. Jess’s vast knowledge is insanely impressive and inspires completely unique interviews with people like Rosie O’Donnell and Sandra Bernard, Loved the recent ep with the Blong Ambition Tour reunion! 💕💕💕

I’ve been a fan of this podcast for years, even when she was with that annoying weasel who only wanted to hear himself talk. She is one of the best interviewers in the game, and you can tell she cares a lot about the subjects and guests. Unfortunately, for the last year or so I’ve noticed she has been re-releasing old episodes as new and not announcing it and I think that’s a bit misleading. I’m only writing this review because I highly enjoy her context and I would like her to focus on new content.

I’m always amazed at how much research Jess does before her interviews. It’s an absolute lost art and not enough people appreciate how much of a difference it makes. Great job, Jess! Keep it up and ignore the haters.

Totally disappointing. Want real deep dives and hot takes on PTown? Listen to the “Welcome to Provincetown” pod by Mitra Karoli. Everything Jess and her guest, Brandon Ward, discussed here was so basic that the material is more accurately found in the first five hits when Googling “PTown.” Not to mention glossing over the three themed week/ends for women and the week for trans folx. If women are an important enough demographic for PTown that they get as many themed times as the bears, and you openly say you don’t get the weeks’ differences, then you haven’t even looked at any of the homepages. Discussion of Fantasia Faire was taken so nonchalantly that Jess couldn’t even commit to calling it weekend or week. Ew. Brandon only got as far as describing circuit week as god-like hot, chiseled men, so again we got less intel than a quick internet search. I didn’t think I could ever be bored trying to learn more about PTown, but this did it. Listened to this show for the first time after a search for pod eps on PTown. Won’t be coming back. Do not recommend.

For example: on the lesbian “it” girls episode, the host made a comment about people getting top surgery in response to a brief discussion about breasts. The discussion was suggested to be moved offline, as a way to avoid getting “political.” This is not the first time that the host has made disparaging comments about trans people.
