I can't stop myself from listening to the new episodes right away—and then I’m stuck waiting for the next one 😂 Usually I can leave a show alone and wait for a backlog, but not with this one. And why wait? I think some of the other reviews have fair critiques of the audio feeling confusing at times—but trust me—this is a show best enjoyed on its own.
Normally I multitask when listening to podcasts, but the only thing I can do while I listen to this show, is drive. I think good car speakers or headphones in stereo are really the way to go with this show. Because when you do—IT’S SO IMMERSIVE. You might struggle to lose yourself in the story if you aren’t listening in a way that lets you hear EVERYTHING.
While Hemophobia is quiet, it is NOT poorly mixed. I don’t find myself having to adjust the volume at all, there’s no big spikes or dips—none that aren’t intentional. And trust me, the ambiance is part of this story.
You can really place yourself inside the head of the narrator, and imagine the horror unfolding around you.
I know for a lot of us, we listen to a lot of shows to pass time doing other tasks and—totally. I would really recommend listening to this when you’re not doing something loud or really distracting. You won’t regret leaning into this story, and letting yourself be immersed.
It’s totally worth it. And I can’t wait for more!

The final scene of the first season haunts my waking days and my nightmares. It’s chilling and visceral; it makes me feel uneasy anytime I think of it. Amazing storytelling

The story on this one has drawn me in, but I get frustrated listening to it. What is the point of dialogue we can’t understand? It’s hard to get into an episode when I have to keep skipping back to understand what was said. I feel like the show gets in its own way trying to be cool and edgy by layering dialogue over dialogue, but it becomes just noise. If I wanted just noise I could take my headphones out and listen to the highway nearby. I also fell like having three characters with names so similar is confusing (Sean, Shane, and Sam) especially since they all pretty much just sound like generic white guys. But something about the story keeps me coming back. The show is not without its merits and I am excited to see what comes next.

There are a lot of scenes where multiple characters are talking but the loudest audio is the least important (or the least interesting) part of the story and I feel like I’m missing important details because of it.

I really wanted to get into this one. It had so much potential (Season one) but I was so lost half the time because I couldn’t understand the low mumble of the narrative over the loud background noise. Hoping season 2 which just dropped isn’t the same way, otherwise I’ll have to pass.
