If you've ever felt overwhelmed by all the health advice out there, this podcast and specifically episode5, will ground you. Jean's in her 70s, dealing with real stuff—chronic digestive issues, fatigue, moving into a new chapter of life.
What makes this essential listening? You get to hear Dr. Su problem-solving in real time with Jean, weighing longevity options against her actual life. Rapamycin? Hyperbaric oxygen? Mediterranean diet? The answer: you don't need to do everything.
Stability, resilience, curiosity, and connection matter just as much as supplements.
"Healing does not mean erasing the past. It means building a steadier future." - That line alone is worth the listen.

Mark Su has been a grounding, thoughtful and deeply caring resource to the Newburyport community for over 20 years. Always curious and seeking the most modern solutions to our health issues, we’ve been so luck to have his wisdom and dedication. Likewise, Mary Jo Anderson has been both a prominent influencer on lifestyle and a behind the scenes supporter and generous giver in our community for just as long. This duo coming together to share insights and stories about healthy and wellness is brilliant. I love the pace of the show, the topics of consideration and the genuine concern for humanity. 5 stars.

Just listened to the fourth episode with Mary Jo’s story. I’ve never heard of the term functional medicine. Having known several individuals who have faced chronic illnesses over their lives I wish I knew more about these approaches. I’ve known Mary Jo for several years and known she’s had medical challenges but not the specifics. She is the perfect spokesperson to discuss functional medicine. It’s mind blowing to hear the story of somebody who you have always only known as a positive force of nature and unstoppable energy to hear their journey and struggle…. All while nailing the whole “mom” part. I agree completely with trusting your instinct and being in tune with your body. It becomes even more important as we age. Thank you both for sharing the story of discovery and resilience and paths we can pursue for diagnosis.
