Really enjoying this podcast, and not only because of the sing-song quality of ISMAY’s delicate narration, whose tone I have found puts me in a kind of reflective trance. Anyone who has dedicated themselves to creation, and dealt with the ensuing complexity of maintaining inspiration, will be interested in ISMAY’s journey to uncover the many-sided prism of an artistic life. Lots of great takes along the way--especially love the Mary Gauthier episode!!

If you have an interest in Lucinda Williams, American roots music, alt country music, the connection between poetry and crafting good lyrics-whatever your way in might be, I encourage you to give this podcast a listen. It’s very well researched and the fact that ISMAY is a developing singer-songwriter herself, trying to find her way in the world of music creation and performing, only enhances the quality of what she is creating. (Just finished reading Lucinda’s memoir, where she states that she hates the terms alt-country and Americana. Finds them too limiting. I still find them useful to try to describe the type of person who might enjoy this podcast.)

I’m really enjoying this podcast. Saw some memorable Lucinda shows. Her 40th birthday at Headliners in Louisville was rocking good fun with her whole family there, two days after 9/11 at Lexington Opera House was raw and emotional, the LSD tour with Steve Earle and Dwight Yoakam was a trip. I have seen Lu at outdoor festivals, theaters, and bars. She always delivers.
