Air every podcast Erin puts out as a winner in my book.

I had the pleasure of meeting her at CrimeCon, and she didn’t disappoint. She did a session on this case, and it is riveting, especially hearing from the granddaughter of one of the victims. This is an important case, and everybody should be hearing about it.

Erin Moriarty has been in this game for 30 years, she herself is a lawyer and she is very knowledgeable about the criminal justice process. She’s also an Emmy winning journalist who understands how this format works, something that clearly can’t be said for some of these listeners. She asks the tough questions and grills these witnesses and suspects, even the young ones, because her job is to extrapolate facts for the rest of us. If you’re uncomfortable with her methods, there are a plethora of much less credible, yet candy coated, true crime pods available for you to listen to instead.

From the first few seconds, this series sounds and feels different. A murderer lurking in a safe loving community. As always, Erin takes care with her reporting. This is about to get dark but the victims and their families are given agency to tell their stories in a respectful manner.

Great story , eh interviewer 09/03/2025
Just listened to Episode 3 and while this is a story where it does grab my attention and is very interesting , the interviewer when talking to the at the time was very condensing towards him . Even laughs at one point in a mocking tone asking him why he didn’t call the police immediately when st the time he was only 17 years old and was scared . Disregards the fact that he did indeed call when he could do it anonymously probably fearing for his life ! She also disregards that the police had no leads until he reported the crime . Again great story in general but her tone of basically blaming him on what her could’ve done better when he was a kid himself really dropped the rating for me .

This is an interesting story but the narrator was far too harsh on Alvaro, a true hero in this story. I found her tactics very rude and disrespectful. There is a way to cover a story without sensationalizing someone’s pain and this is not it. Quite tone deaf.
