Let’s face it, sleep medicine podcasts are typically just what the doctor ordered, that is if you need to listen to something that will put you to sleep.
But this - Empowered Sleep Apnea - is a different podcast animal altogether! As a veteran in the field of Sleep Medicine, I am always striving for new ways to enlighten my patients as they navigate their way through the journey of getting diagnosed and treated for their apnea. It can be a pretty frustrating and daunting experience for a lot of folks, but it doesn’t have to be. Hosts Dave and Ellen take us on a wonderful, wacky and educational trip as they regale the audience with one patient’s true tale through this experience.
No doubt that both patients and providers will benefit while being entertained by this new show.

This podcast appeals to everyone. The creativity behind making sleep apnea and other sleep issues both entertaining and informative is genius. I especially loved the commentaries after the stories we can all relate to. Everyone needs empower themselves to choose what is best on a complex topic and system. Thanks for bringing light to the science and many treatment options without overwhelming the listener.

This podcast is such an amazing tool. Dr. Stothard and Dr. McCarty have an amazing way of making complex information palatable and interesting. If you know someone who has sleep apnea or you yourself have it, please listen. This goes far beyond the typical one lane treatment style of traditional apnea care that doesn’t fit so many people. Even if you work in sleep medicine or a related field, there is much to learn here!

Learning so much here. I love your open minded and patient centered approach. The level of creativity is refreshing as well. I would like to request (and maybe later episodes do this already) the sound effects be minimized to near zero - I find them anxiety inducing and excessive, as well as distracting. The topic itself is interesting enough on its own. No need to embellish. I also know how much work it is to do that- will be less work for ya too. Thanks for your wonderful podcast!
