I just recently discovered this podcast and am so glad I found it. True Crime is a genre that I have been fascinated with for years, so I have listened to many podcasts on the subject. This one really stands out to me as one of the best for several reasons. The first is how Nancy really focuses on the victims in each case. It is obvious that she really cares about people and doesn’t see them as just another story. Secondly, the stories are well researched and written. Finally, cases are followed up on in subsequent episodes. In the Kelly Cook case my heart really broke for the woman who was the first choice as a babysitter. I was so happy and relieved when she was finally able to meet Kelly’s sister to have her guilty feelings assuaged. Thank you for bringing humanity to these tragic cases, Nancy! Keep up the good work!!

I never get tired of listening to these! Nancy Hixt makes all the stories interesting and makes you feel like you were actually there. She does a great job of keeping the story respectful even being so detailed. My favorite.

As a recent new listener of Crime Beat, I am listening to all shows to catch up. The host is top notch and focuses on the victim while providing a thorough explanation of the case. The relationship Nancy develops with victims and their families is clearly one of trust and mutual respect. This is a must listen! Thank all of you for excellent work you do to bring this podcast to your listeners.

This podcast is so well written and researched. I can tell Nancy Hixt really cares about the people who are affected by these crimes. The only reason I can’t give five stars is Nancy’s delivery style. She sounds like she’s talking to a three year old. Slow and almost patronizing. It can be quite irritating. I cannot be the only person who notices this. I still listen if the story is interesting, but I have to take breaks when I start focusing too much on her narration style and not on the content. Otherwise, great podcast!
