Great exploration of a surprisingly interesting topic. Shipping containers are ubiquitous and have shaped our world in a significant way, yet I knew little about their role in changing the global economy and their impact on every aspect of our lives. This series educated me but did so ina really engaging way. I am now a fan of Alexis Madrigal and will be looking out for anything else he creates. Highly recommended!

As a person who works in the shipping industry this podcast was well researched. It has a good balance of waterfront history and how containerization has changed the waterfront and a look into the future. Nicely done.

This podcast was an interesting and still relevant look at the nuts and bolts of the shipping industry everybody depends on for nearly every item they handle on a daily basis. Given the current post-covid shipping craziness, it’s a nice reminder of how complex the shipping system is and humanizes the issues. Highly recommended.

Madrigal does a great job of putting together vignettes on subjects which are interesting in their own right, all related by the otherwise nondescript, identical seeming containers which underlie our modern lives. I came to this podcast series late, inspired by his just released book Pacific Circuit. The one knock I can mention: the audio engineering is terrible. Something went wrong at the QC stage in release.
