I just started listening, starting with the sweater episode, and am enchanted. I needed to be reminded how important it is to look closely at what we own, literally look at the seams and tags and sleeves and threads. Everything we wear has been touched by so many people, from design to sales to manufacture to retail to us. (And many stops in between.) We are all responsible for each other. Clothes are fun! Clothes are political! Clothes are capitalism! Fashion is fascinating from every angle. Thank you for the sanity, the thoughtfulness, the fierce commitment, the great guests, and the top-notch hosting and interviewing skills.

Amanda really does their research! There hasn't been one episode that hasn't taught me something new or presented another way to think about things. This is not just about clothes and fashion—it's about who we want to be in this world and in our lives and with each other, the animals, and the planet. This is about the connections among all the facets of how we spend our time in this life, as well as tons of practical, easy action steps to walk a dignified and fulfilled path that everyone can truly "live" with.

I absolutely love this podcast. Amanda does an excellent job giving super detailed deep dives in a digestible way. I’ve learned so much from them and they’ve helped me figure out realistic, accessible changes I can make to keep my consumption more aligned with my values. Highly recommend!

The podcast is about fashion but I’ve learned about so many different, but related, topics. Amanda does a ton of research for each episode. Even though the episodes can be longer than other podcasts, I listen to the end because Amanda keeps me learning and thinking about what I can do to make better fashion choices. Thank you Amanda!

I came in expecting a cerebral yet entertaining fashion podcast, and left feeling sorely disappointed by the delivery and lack of actual substance.

There were *way* too many anecdotes presented as facts - e.g. McCarty discussing her own personal background, but instead of using anecdotes to story-tell alongside a factually substantiated argument, they became the *actual* argument.

It felt like she was using the episode as personal catharsis / therapy session. Maybe that’s just her style, which is ultimately fine - it’s her podcast - but her delivery also felt…sanctimonious, for the lack of a better descriptor.

She didn’t get to numbers and research until the final 15min, and even then they were thin and relied on one study, thus feeling cherry-picked to support her slow fashion thesis.

I would’ve appreciated if she presented multiple viewpoints too to round out her central POV - eg “now, others may say” or “you may be asking right now…”

For a 90min episode, it also took 30min to get to the actual or subject (fast fashion and classicism). I ended up listening to the episode at 1.5x and finished it feeling like the entire thing could’ve been distilled into 4 sentences.

Overall - I don’t actually disagree with her on her main points, but I’d expected an intelligent, well-rounded discussion to back them up and instead got a poor facsimile thereof.
