I love this podcast! It popped up in my feed and I am so glad it did. I love history and medicine. I have been an OR nurse for 12 years and I grew up in Baltimore going to work with my mother at Johns Hopkins for what used to be “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” so I am very much aware of some of the doctors mentioned in the podcast. It was awesome hearing the person/names behind halls I have walked ( Halsted at Hopkins)and instruments I have held ( Debakey forceps and Cooley Clamps). I shared this podcast with at least 8 colleagues and I plan to share it with many more. This was both well-written and well-produced.

This was very humbling to listen to. I’ve worked in and around cardiac procedures/surgeries as a nurse for ten+ years. I knew bits, pieces and some names but not much more beyond the current practices. It was nice to hear this history and better know the titans of cardiac innovation whose shoulders I currently stand. It was a reminder of how far and fast the world of cardiovascular care has come.

I have no particular connection to cardiac disease or surgery, but I found this podcast fascinating. It captures the complexity of medical progress and shows that even the most brilliant people are fallible.

This was incredible from start to finish. There are so many podcasts out there who has time for anything that isn’t?! I could listen to Mr. Napoli read an instruction manual. I’m a former nurse in MN, so this resonated with me. But, it’s such a great story that I’m sure most people have never heard. The last episode made me bawl. Bravo, guys!
