This is the first software podcast I haven’t dropped after a couple listens. I’m a software engineer who works on HPC systems for semiconductor manufacturing, and every software podcast I’ve found assumes I’m a web developer working on a CRUD app from NYC.
But not this one!
This podcast delves into technical details in numerous areas, but also remains general enough to appeal to people like me. The hosts know how to balance the low-level nuts and bolts with the high-level stuff so that everyone can get something out of it. I also appreciate the focus on career and development related areas that aren’t strictly technical, and are of particular interest to senior engineers.
Please, please don’t become a React podcast. Keep reading the classics and don’t get distracted by the revolving door of fad technologies and frameworks that nobody will care about in a decade. You guys are doing God’s work here! And oh yeah, the graph theory episode you floated seems awesome. Definitely interested.

Great podcast. Going deeper into these concepts have really helped me as a senior full stack engineer. There are many surface level podcasts that I have listened to over the years, and they have helped in various degrees. But, listening to this episode in the morning during a run to get inspired for the day has really helped me. It’s have ordered some of the books and look forward to those as well
One note of feedback: stop apologizing for how you do the show, or explaining the format. We are already listening because we love it. Keep on cooking!

Great idea for the podcast. I've been looking for something like that for a long time. The hosts cover great books, which I like.
However, there was a lot of rumbling, spinning the same idea for too long. I found episodes more interesting when they interviewed somebody.
Please skip the three-minute podcast ad at the beginning. It is useless.

Carter and his guests are extremely knowledgeable so this is a great deep dive into the books.
