Dr Julie Hanks is amazing! She offers wonderful and wisdom-filled advice that really helps to improve lives. One of my favorite quotes of hers is “what others think of you is none of your business.” Such an important and true concept to learn. And her voice is so soothing and uplifting. Highly recommend this podcast!

Reading some of the more recent podcast reviews here has brought up some thoughts I need to express. Life is complicated and messy. It is NOT black and white. Any feeling you have after listening to an episode is yours to own and not the “fault” of the messenger. If you’re feeling uncomfortable or even bad, the messenger or content isn’t the scapegoat. Pause and reflect on what you feel uncomfortable about or why you feel fearful or sad/bad. There’s more beneath those feelings that has the power to change and refine us. Learn from rather than demonize or “criminalize” them. I love that Dr. Hanks is willing to put her boots on with spade in hand and work through the tough stuff. She is real, raw, sheds a light on what needs to be illuminated, and speaks up for the marginalized. She amplifies the voices of those who may not have the reach or platform that she does and for this I am so grateful. The fact that there are reviews to the contrary support that her content is getting folks out of comfort zones, and that is GOOD. Progress doesn’t happen relaxing in a hammock on the beach. 🏝️

So, so incredibly grateful to Dr. Julie Hanks and her work. I knew her briefly as a personal mentor about a decade ago and have continuously been so inspired by her and the way she helps so many women find empowerment in the LDS culture in a way that is healthy, loving, and strong. Cannot recommend this podcast and her work enough!!!

I was once a faithful listener of this podcast. I won’t pretend to know why the direction of the show has changed as I’m sure that is very personal to Julie, but what I can say is this show does not leave me feeling informed or inspired. There is a distinct undertone of dislike and animosity towards LDS culture. I am all for honesty and trying to understand ourselves, however, that’s not what this podcast is about anymore. This podcast feels like she is pushing a very specific agenda.
