The guests that are on this show are interesting, but the host could really improve at actually hosting. He asks incredibly leading questions, not giving the guests much space for their responses. Sometimes it’s like he didn’t prepare so his questions are rambling.
With young women artists instead of asking what got them interested in music and who their influences were/are he asks, “so what did you parents like?” Etc.
I don’t think it’s intentional but those things can make it hard to get through an episode when I just want to hear the guests, not his rambling thoughts.

Love this podcast but as a songwriter I don’t feel like he asks about the songwriting process for the writers he interviews as much as I would like. Or even how the writing process was for certain songs that his guests wrote. The interviews feel more general and like a friend hang more than an informative technical behind the scenes writing interview.
