The music track they keep in these podcasts make these almost impossible to listen to. It’s distracting, unnecessary for the story, and much of the time obstructs the audio of the speaker. We just want to listen to the story- we don’t need the music. This podcast would be improved 100% if they made this adjustment.

Hmmm…I am really confused by the ridiculous negative and petty comments by other listeners.

The sound?
I found it perfect for the background of the story.

The narrator? Great narration. The voices are articulate and NOT grating and annoying like some podcasts can be !

The true stories/investigation?
Thorough. Poignant. Interesting and informative.

And I have ADHD and need stories to be precise , compartmentalized, easy for mental digesting. And this podcast and their stories do just that.

Having music in the background is like showing the ambience not telling. In other words, flowery music on a criminal story won’t cut it.

Keep up this great podcast 20/20.

Great stories but hard to listen when there is background music all the way through the story. The music overtakes the voices so I lose interest. I’ve tried countless times but the music is wayyy too overpowering.

The background music is loud and annoying. It’s a podcast, not a movie. Dramatic background music is not needed throughout; the story and voices are enough.

Wanted to listen to The Confession but the overlaid background music playing during the testimonials is so loud and distracting that I stopped. Sometimes less is more. Adding background music when someone is talking doesn’t always enhance the listening experience.

I don’t normally write reviews but I’m going to have to back up the negative reviews others have left.

All they did was take the audio from the televised episode and call it a podcast.

Therefore, you get all the volume dips that happen when they’re showing audio/video clips in the televised episode or if someone speaks softly.

If there is a language translation, meaning English subtitles on the televised version when an interviewee speaks another language, you get none of that in the podcast.

So for 10/22/22 episode, they interview a victim from Mexico who doesn’t speak English, about what happened. If you were WATCHING the episode, you’d know what she said. Podcast…nada…unless you speak Spanish. I take some with a grain of salt, but having not viewed this story, I had no idea what the victim was stating and so then it becomes a disconnect from the story (for me). It’s like reading a book and someone rips out a page. You just hope the next page recaps what you missed.

In this day and age of technology, and from a big broadcasting company, get it together. Enhance the low volume pieces, add voiceover where there were subtitles, and help people enjoy the material you’re trying to present.

Don’t call it a podcast if you’re just reusing poor audio from a televised recording. I think a high school media class could’ve done better.

I think this is an “unfollow” for me. I tried to tough it out but just gets worse. I’ll stick with Dateline despite their occasional ads.
