I’ve been listening to this podcast for several years now, and I can honestly say I’ve learned a tremendous amount from Chris Hayes. His curiosity is boundless, and his passion for the work comes through in the depth of his preparation and the thoughtful guests he brings on. I also love the book recommendations at the end of each episode; they’ve introduced me to so many great reads. I only have time to listen to a handful of podcasts each week and WITH is consistently in my rotation.

I do not think the way to end radicalization is to stop talking about subjects. Not talking about religion and politics is a relatively recent phenomenon and more likely that’s what got us to this awful point in history than the correlation you think you identified. And as far as talking about sex goes…well, Belle Case La Follette (and surely others) advocated talking more about sex even well over a hundred years ago because they saw it as a way to improve lives. Because knowledge is power. So, no, talking less solves nothing. We need to talk more, while still being respectful, civil, and curious. It’s uncomfortable, yes, but that only because society is so out of practice. Here’s another correlation we could throw out there: we stopped talking the more saturated our lives became with entertainment and distractions. And we became so bad at it because we stopped doing it. And because we stopped talking, everyone thought we were getting the same information, but if we talked to each other, we’d realize our education and information streams are so different. That doesn’t change facts though, as the guest said. So talk more! Stay active in politics and in your communities. Vote! Talk to others about voting. And demand that our representatives repeal citizens united. And pass laws and regulations that eliminate loopholes and require more progressive taxation. Make corruption illegal again. Spell it out. Get our laws up to speed with 21st century technologies and businesses. We cannot rely on the better angels of anyone’s nature. Require critical thinking and civics education in school ( that everyone by law is required to receive) and super long shot here, but maybe even someday take a long hard look at our constitution.

This was a beautiful episode and as a black American woman, who also has black sons who have been significantly impacted by violence and trauma, I felt it in my soul, and like Trymaine, I felt emotional the entire time I listened. Thank you Trymaine for all you do and for your courage and heart, and Chris for platforming and supporting the black community. You are appreciated.

Appreciate the information but can’t listen to Chris insert all the “like …”. And the “like…”. And the “like…”. Way too distracting And annoying. Four or more “likes » per sentence. He does it on his show too. Interesting topics and guests but am put off by all the unnecessary ‘’ like’s’.

It was very disappointing to hear Chris and his guest misrepresent university’s IDC. As a former employee of several universities and a HHS retiree- IDC rates are hard negotiated rates with volumes of cost data to support rates . As the Feds require universities to account for grant funds, the costly administative requirements add to the IDC. The U.S. citizenry will lose so much because of the interruption of U.S. scientific research. It’s devastating.
