Velshi - Podcast Rankings and reviews

Ali Velshi is a fantastic interviewer and uses his considerable intelligence to talk about tough topics and ask some of the questions that many others are too timid to ask. Along with Mehdi Hassan, I believe he is THE best MSNBC host, whether doing his own show or "sitting in" on other host's shows.
Also, his Velshi's Banned Book Club is a stroke of genius that is much needed in these "1984-esque" days of certain groups of people/politicians trying to snow the public and push a reality that isn't real at all - especially in the education of our most important resources; our children.

I’ve watched Ali Velshi on so many different networks over the years and never been disappointed. It is clear he strives to provide quality reporting and discussion. His staff seems equally dedicated. I’m always appreciative of Ali’s ability to present multiple views of complex issues (Mideast, anyone?) that cannot honestly be addressed simplistically. His interviews likewise don’t let anyone of the hook, but his approach is always respectfully direct and calm. Easily one of the best out there.

I am just going to be straightforward here. Not being mean; these are facts.

Whomever is editing this show as an audio podcast apparently is not good at it, and either doesn’t review their work before release or just doesn’t care how awfully cobbled-together the end result is.

Ali totally rules. We love him. I am so glad to hear his take on things!

But for some reason, this audio version suffers from things such as:

1) Today (and this is far from the first time this has happened): The last 10 minutes you just heard? Well, you’re about to hear it again, because the last 10 minutes has been pasted in again by accident. This happens often.

2) You are going to be listening, and suddenly in the middle of a sentence being spoken by someone, the commercials start. After a couple of those, you get dumped right back into the same place the commercials started. Dear producer, editing hint for you here… just look at the wave form, and check any flat spots. That’s where the silence will be. Not hard.

3) A while after those misplaced commercials, Ali will announce a commercial break and you will listen to 60 seconds of complete silence because there are no commercials there… which will make you wonder if the app stopped, and the second you pick up the phone to see what’s going on, Ali starts again.

4) General stopping and starting fits. It’s just weird.

So, dear podcast producer/editor/staff member, please pay attention to what you are doing. Today’s episode was an editing disaster. Which really isn’t surprising. Today is 10/21/2023.

How is it that the person releasing this still has their job? Ali is kind of a big deal in the biz.

Attention to detail is part of this whole thing.

News, ya know?

Despite Ali Velshi's excellent show, I find myself consistently frustrated when listening. Speakers are frequently interrupted by commercials in the middle of a sentence and even a word. Unacceptable! Today was a new one: the show ended in the middle of a speaker making a point. Clearly, whoever edits these episodes just places commercials at a predetermined time without regard to the show itself. This is both unacceptable and unprofessional. I'm thoroughly disgusted.
