At first, I thought this was a place for admittedly cool and engaged lefty Southerners to decompress. Its far more than that. It’s actually a critical analysis of what it means to be Southern/American/live under capitalism. The diversity of opinions on the show makes me question my own beliefs in a comfortable and entertaining space. Listen to it!

I love listening to these folks, mostly because they sound like friends I would like to have. I don’t necessarily agree with them all the time (and that’s fine). I appreciate the fact that we’re all kind of learning as we go, and they know that too.

My Daddy was born and raised on Apple Tree Branch in Letcher County. While enjoying our 2021 4th of July in Baltimore Maryland, my brother-in-law started talking about this podcast out of mountains of Kentucky. Never in my life would have guessed that his hometown, the place I spent every June growing up learning about canning and coal, would pop up again when I needed it most. I started listening just to hear the accents, like a breeze on the 120* August days. I’ve stayed because… well lawd y’all hilarious. Pop culture, some socialism, and a helluva sick sense on humor. It’s like sitting on my own back porch and cracking open a beer with my friends.

Love y’all. It’s nice to hear a left pod that isn’t just a group of people in california, new york, or the pnw. Feels much more in touch and relatable as I also live in the south.
