Throughline provides stellar historical information and features experts who explain complex events and issues. I’ve immensely enjoyed listening to episodes on a variety of topics and learning about issues like the U.S. — Puerto Rico relationship, Mass Incarceration, Eugenics, and the Shia-Sunni Divide. Throughline makes history accesible without generalizing about complicated issues and topics. It provides captivating, fascinating information on varied historical topics and tracks their impact on today. I can’t recommend Throughline highly enough!

I have loved this podcast from the very first episode. Each topic is clearly well researched and thorough. The hosts also do an amazing job deciphering through the nuances and background information of the topics discussed. I’ve appreciated learning A LOT more about topics and issues relating to the Middle East, East Asia, and Islam in general, even though the podcasts dives into various global issues. I hope Rund and Ramtin are here for the long haul. I just love it here and I look forward to a new episode every Thursday!

This podcast not only teaches kids facts they need, it models how to do important social studies skills like historical analysis, critical reading of sources, and contextualization. I’ve played episodes for students but also use it for my own development. Thank you for a wonderful resource.

Palestine episode is filled with factual errors. 1) Rav Kook, who according to the podcast “sees the 1967 war as a mark of God’s favor” and becomes a “guru of messianic religious nationalism” actually lived and died before the State of Israel was born. 2) The Sheikh Jarrah eviction case is based on a law enacted in 1970, not the nation state law of 2018. The 1970 law allows Jewish Israelis the right to reclaim properties that were owned by Jews before 1948. In that year, Jordan, having rejected the UN’s two-state partition plan for Palestine launched a war with several other Arab states to destroy Israel, conquered East Jerusalem and expelled all the Jews from their homes. This context is conveniently omitted from the NPR narrative. Lack of basic fact-checking makes me wonder about the accuracy of the “facts” presented in other episodes.”

I had a really hard time listening to the episode titled “Palestine”. While the guest was well researched, he only represents one side of the issue. The fact that all of the hosts and guests characterized themselves as Palestinian further proves how biased this account was. I would have loved to have had an Israeli as part of the discussion to help educate people on both sides.

There was a lot of misinformation and omitted information regarding the Jewish/Israeli perspective.

The way they talked about the recent antisemitism was appalling. They completely discounted it and said it was desperate. There has been a 600% increase in antisemitic attacks worldwide in the past week. If what is happening with Israel is NOT rooted in antisemitism, then why is antisemitism increasing worldwide? Calling it “desperate” is truly appalling.

Think of this from another perspective. If a black person in America said something was racist would you ever call that desperate? No you wouldn’t.

I usually like this podcast and NPR. But this one was not okay.
