I rarely review podcasts - but this one deserves its five stars. These are some of the most intelligent conversations I have ever heard of the current state of affairs in the US. I’d take Jon & co’s analysis over typical media any day. It is circumspect, historically contextualized, just plain SMART while maintaining itself as interesting and listenable. I learn from this and it has helped me to change my mind, see when I am wrong and be a better citizen. Listen to it!!!

I can breathe again!!! In this amazing podcast, Jon’s critical analysis of current issues are filtered through his humor, empathy and passion, which have been sorely missed since he left the Daily Show. I binge listened to every episode, and cannot wait for more! Welcome back Jon !!😍

Guns & domestic violence show was such a refreshing topic & catharsis for me. As a survivor of domestic violence it was beautiful yet painful to hear Chelsea talk about her experience. Her sharing what it’s like living with PTSD even after a decade resonated with me. I hope the topic & related topic will be covered in the podcast. Thanks for being vulnerable & courageous Chelsea. You got this!

Thank you for this, from the bottom of my heart. I was in a marriage/domestic violence scenario for almost 11 years. I have been removed from that for 11 years this month (February 2022).

I deeply feel everything Chelsea is saying, EVERYTHING. I left him when I was 35, I am almost 46 now, and I still have emotional issues, I still get a stomach ache if someone raises their voice around me, I panic if I think I see him in public (to the point of almost vomiting), it just doesn’t go away. He was an alcoholic, and to this day, I can’t tolerate being around people who are drinking (I have never been a drinker).

The abuse was physical, emotional, verbal, and sexual. He continued to harass me until the divorce was final a few months later (May 2011). It feels like a lifetime ago, and I often think “how did I let this happen, why did I do this to myself”. It’s a strange way to think, b/c I know it wasn’t my fault.

Anyway, I feel for Chelsea and any other victim/survivor of domestic violence. We are a large community of people where no one knows each other, because few people talk about it. There’s the whole shame factor, I suppose.

I started speaking out a few years ago, and it has been liberating. Women have come out of the woodwork who have went, or are going through, the same thing I did. It’s heartbreaking.

Anyway, thanks again for speaking on this. And I should add, I am an avid hunter, a Hunter Education instructor, and someone who owns many firearms, but I wholeheartedly believe in gun reform or at least figuring out how in the world we stop the gun violence in this country.

Other pods try. This one delivers. John Stewart and invited experts take on the nature of the beast. They dig deep, name the problems and culprits, and reflect on possibilities.

The conversation was fine but too much fascination on praising drug use which is not the point of the discussion. It takes focus away from the topic and is distracting. Discussion was lighthearted around a serious topic. If you want to have fun and be funny, pick topics that that match the energy.
