I approached this with heavy skepticism and just literally felt my mind expand. It changed the way I think about the world and am grateful for the messages shared by non-speakers. I have shared this show with my family and friends who would be open to this message. Definitely worth a listen!

Incredible podcast. Literally changed my entire perception of consciousness. Ky and everyone involved do a phenomenal job of presenting the facts and telling the story for something that is far too easily dismissed.

I’ve been a teacher for 24 years and I’ve always shied away from the SPED department and its students because I didn’t/don’t understand. This podcast has opened my eyes and blown my mind! 🤯 I now regret not trying to learn or understand these students who are frequently marginalized in the public education system. I’m so sorry; I, like many others, presumed incompetency. I will do better!

I ran a specialized therapeutic school for autistic children for 13 years. I was a non-believer of Spellers until we agreed to the request of one of our families to allow their child to have an aide who was trained in RPM. Seeing IS believing!

However, until listening to this incredible podcast, I had no idea of the extraordinary abilities my students and other non-speakers have. I was in awe listening to this podcast and was often moved to tears. I am sharing this podcast to everyone I know. This HAS to get out! I am so looking forward to Season Two and especially the documentary! Well done Ky!!❤️

This is a repackaging of facilitated communication, which has been debunked over and over again by every major scientific institution. Of course desperate families (like mine) want to believe that their children can communicate and will pay anyone who will confirm that belief. I am begging anyone who engages with this media to seek out peer reviewed studies— or even the case of Anna Stubblefield, who used facilitated communication to rape a nonverbal man.

This show is built upon exploitative ableism, applying debunked methods to nonverbal kids, using them and their families as props. I’m sympathetic to a family wanting to believe there’s something extraordinary about their child. But instead of seeing that in who they are, instead of valuing children as themselves, they’re mapping tired tropes onto them, overwriting the actual person. I wish we were better than this, as a society, even if I’m not surprised that we aren’t.
