I LOVE this podcast! Like Alaina, I grew up loving Buffy. I have listened to (I think) all of the Buffy podcasts out there and this is the best I have heard. The combination of Alaina’s stellar recapping, Ash’s honest and hilarious reactions as a first time viewer and Mikey’s excellent analysis of the skills of the writers, producers and directors is a real winner! You must check this out!!!!

I know there is a revival of Buffy podcasts and audio recently, but I consider this podcast the OG of them all. I am almost dreading the fact that this podcast might end as we are in the later seasons of Buffy. I love Ash and Alaina as our hosts and the addition of Mikey, also producer and editor. Great banter and detailed summaries and episode recap! Hooked!

I drive a lot for work and I’ve been listening to this podcast in the car. Fairly certain I’m an unsafe driver when I do because I’m laughing so hard.

Before I get to my subject, I have to say, I LOVE this podcast!! It’s fun, informative and… did I mention fun? I really appreciate how y’all breakdown the episodes and actually discuss them. Not every rewatch podcast does that. Great job ladies!! Now to my subject, in the episode Angel, I believe Ash asks if Buffy had a watcher before Giles. I don’t remember if it’s Buffy or Angel, but there is a flashback scene somewhere that shows Buffy finding out she’s the slayer for the first time. A man named Merrick tells her. Merrick was her first watcher but he dies at some point. So, she did have some training before Sunnyvale. Also, I think, don’t quote me, that the show was supposed to be a loose continuation of the movie staring Kristy Swanson.
Again, great job ladies!!! I can’t wait to catch up to where y’all are in the podcast and then keep going!!

I used to really, really like this podcast. I was so excited when I found out about it. But it went from a fun show with a good concept (one host being a super fan, the other never having watched), to a frustrating 90-minutes jam-packed with bits and inside jokes that were barely funny the first time they said them (DAWN-key, Nana Bob, the feckin-tapeworm, etc) repeated over and over and over and over. I’ve had to skip ahead so many times when the hosts devolve into giggles over a story or a joke that the listener isn’t in on (just edit that out!). Now it’s basically just turned into “how we would parent a fictional character and how we would rewrite the show”, which frankly just isn’t that compelling to listen to. As you scream into the mic asking BtVS actors to come on your show…maybe consider that you’ve now created a show that it would be really hard for them to participate in hosting? It would essentially just have to be you explaining all your bits to them. I may be in the minority but I did like the addition of Mikey — I like that he actually researches the context and behind the scenes to talk about, and has thoughtful input on the show itself. I’ve been hanging on for their season 5 recaps because I’ve been hoping it will get better…but I think I’m done. Giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because it did start out stronger.

Unfortunately I agree with a lot of the negative reviews on this show. I enjoyed it at first, but the way the plot is read as a terribly cheesy script with so many unfunny inside jokes that they refuse to stop saying completely turned me off. It’s uncomfortable when they have guests on who clearly don’t think their jokes are funny.
