The History of England - Podcast Rankings and reviews

I love love love this podcast. The history of England has always been vague and confusing but David explains almost year by year what happened and how it fit together …or not. It sounds dry but it’s fascinating and entertaining the way he creates stories out of what historians know and don’t know. He often has me laughing out loud. I appreciate his explanations of sources, interpretations over the centuries by historians, oral descriptions of geography, life in the Middle Ages, what the rest of Europe was doing, and summaries. His website is packed full of maps, books, time lines, etc. i also like the birds chirping in the background. I listen to it everyday during my commute. I’m now at 1217 after a wonderful clarification of the Magna Carta. Thanks, David.

Thank you for the podcast to which I always return. The acting out of scenes, the dramatics, the witty bits, the characterizations, the recreation of each period in the history of England … it’s just the most engaging “history of England” chat that exists.

Can’t believe I’ve never reviewed the show before. I’m a professional historian and David Crowther is an excellent host. Very knowledgeable (where does he keep that information? How does he keep track of all of it? What is his brain like? Truly amazing.). He has a great voice I am quite jealous of and has a fabulous sense of humor. I can’t wait for the episodes on Megan and Harry. Any day now I am sure…
